The Chronic Overlapping Pain Condition Screener (COPCS) is an interactive tool that assesses for the presence of ten COPCs using a logic-driven format.

A body map and screening questions are first used to identify whether cardinal features of each COPC are present (e.g., indicating pain in the jaw, neck, or face for temporomandibular disorder), and if so, triggers the full diagnostic criteria. Criteria are either validated tools for research/epidemiological purposes or modifications to the published criteria informed by a panel of 30 experts many of whom authored the original criteria. After completing the triggered modules, a report is generated showing whether the participant met criteria for any of the ten COPCs (i.e., fibromyalgia, temporomandibular disorder, irritable bowel syndrome, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, painful endometriosis, vulvodynia, urologic chronic pelvic pain syndrome, chronic low back pain, migraine headache, and tension-type headache). The report also provides a sum of the number of COPCs coexisting within a given individual. The whole process typically takes less than ten minutes to complete.
